The Upper Skagit Indian Tribe calls on Seattle to remove the Gorge Dam

The tribe is pushing to protect their way of life.

  • Scott Schuyler of the Upper Skagit Indian Tribe cooks some of the salmon he just caught at the tribal headquarters. Schuyler learned the ironwood skewer barbecue technique from other fish cooks, including master fish cook Claude Wilbur from the Swinomish Tribe, the grandfather of Jeremy J.J. Wilbur. Schuyler hopes to one day “pass the torch” to younger tribal members.
