Dear HCN,
I am deeply disappointed
in the Sierra Club for its stand against the Recreation Fee
Demonstration Program. Yes, it truly would be much more desirable
for Congress and the president to fund adequately and promptly our
national treasures – but that is not likely to happen soon, if
ever.
As I sit at my computer writing this
letter, I am looking out at a broad expanse of my neighbor, Rocky
Mountain National Park, which is benefiting mightily from the Fee
Demonstration Program. The park is utilizing approximately $3
million of Fee Demonstration money annually to preserve and protect
this marvelous treasure.
Without these monies,
which currently are not coming in any other way, this park and many
others would continue to deteriorate – at a great loss to us
all.
