Hopi Dawn

Hopi Dawn

A 30' tall Moenave sandstone monolith in a remote region of the Colorado Plateau is a silent witness to another dawn breaking. This image is the result of a couple of errors. I wanted to awaken before the quarter moon rose, but I overslept. Instead, I woke an hour before dawn with the moon at my back and figured, 'What the heck...nothin' to lose by trying'. And although the skies were still dark to my eye, the camera sensor captured the pre-dawn light. Second, I don't think I got pinpoint focus on the stars. I kinda like the results anyway.
