Lemolo is a Chinook word for Powerful, a word best defined by the visual experience that is Lemolo Falls. This gorge in the North Umpqua river was sculpted by the power of water, displayed here in the giant spray coming off the force of water hitting water as it tumbles. Lemolo falls also displays the power of water in giving rise to life -- a greenscape of mosses, hornworts, grasses, wildflowers and lichens are seen flourishing in these riparian corridor. Water is life.
