GIS LANDSCAPE ANALYST, NORTHERN GREAT PLAINS

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the global conservation organization leading international efforts for a living planet, seeks a GIS Landscape Analyst to be responsible for contributing to the research, spatial analysis and map-making needs of the Northern Great Plains Ecoregion Program. This position will maintain a functional and up-to-date GIS database and GIS lab. Will perform periodic updates and general lab maintenance; provide support to programs by doing research and appropriate analyses; prepare maps, figures and spatial analyses upon request by and in coordination with scientists and other program staff.  Assist GIS administrator with developing tools for analysis, management of information and dissemination of the same to staff. Basic requirements: An undergraduate degree in geography, environmental sciences or related field, including appropriate coursework in landscape ecology, GIS and/or remote sensing. In addition, two years’ experience working in GIS and experience developing, completing and evaluating spatial analysis projects required. High level knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS 9.2 and knowledge of other programs that interface with ArcGIS during analysis (MS Excel and Access) required. Preferred Master’s degree in geography, environmental sciences or relate field, five years’ of related work experience, knowledge of the Northern Great Plains ecoregion and applicable statistical software (e.g. R, S-Plus, SAS). -Wyoming Conservation Voters and the Wyoming Conservation Voters Education Fund, allied statewide nonpartisan environmental advocacy organizations with a strong political focus, seek a dynamic leader to serve as joint CEO. The organizations are, respectively, 501(c)(4) and 501(c)(3) nonprofit groups which seek to make protection of Wyoming’s environment a top priority among public officials and voters. The successful candidate will have strong communication, leadership, people, problem solving and management skills as well as an entrepreneurial bent. He or she will be politically savvy and have demonstrated a commitment to using political processes to protect Wyoming’s environment, and an ability to empathize with diverse coalition partners and facilitate their collaboration. The Executive Director will be hired by and report to both organizations’ Boards of Directors. Responsibilities include working with the boards to raise and manage an annual budget of $300,000+, with particular responsibility for major-donor cultivation and solicitation; working with the board and other stakeholders to develop and implement a long-term strategic plan; developing and implementing a state-wide civic engagement strategy; implementing necessary business systems (i.e.: budgeting, accounting, personnel policies, etc.); hiring and supervising staff; and working collaboratively with other organizations and interest groups to effectively advocate public policy to protect Wyoming’s natural resources. Relevant qualifications and experience required include successful fundraising experience; experience managing a small nonprofit organization; legislative and public-policy advocacy experience; excellent written and oral communication skills; electoral campaign experience; experience working with volunteer boards; and financial management experience. Candidates with organizing and spokesman/media relations experience are preferred. Additional desired skills include an understanding of Wyoming and the Intermountain West; understanding of Nonprofit Organization legal structures; and basic comfort with technological equipment & database software.
