The Goat Gangstas
Our team is trying to raise money for HCN's great internship program!
As most of you know, High Country News is a nonprofit, award-winning newsmagazine and website that's been covering the American West for more than 40 years now. We have an outstanding editorial internship program that trains 6 new journalists each year to report and write independent, hard-hitting stories about environmental, natural resource, and cultural issues.
Now, we're trying to raise money to keep that internship program going (it costs $80,000 per year). A former intern has offered a $10,000 donation -- IF other former interns can raise a matching $10,000. So we've put together a team to see if we can come up with 1/5 of that: $2,000.
Our team is made up of High Country News interns from years past who've stayed in Colorado. With the excellent training in journalism we received during our months at HCN, we've pursued a variety of careers and become involved members of communities from Paonia to Fort Collins. We're now editors, reporters, freelance writers, environmental directors, teachers, attorneys and judges. Our time at HCN made us who we are today -- and now it's time for us, and our friends and family, to give back.
Please help support the HCN internship program with your donation. There are prizes for the teams that earn the most money (we could win a new backpack or a river trip!) and for you: every donor who gives at least $75 will win a chance at twenty-five $75 Mountain Khaki gift cards.
You can donate via the button below or mail a check payable to High Country News to: P.O. Box 1090, Paonia, CO 81428. Or call 800-905-1155. Donations are tax-deductible.
