Coal controversy continues
The first environmental impact statement (EIS) for any project in the massive program to develop the coal resources of the Northern Plains is being prepared. The EIS will analyze Peabody Coal Company's plans to mine federal coal near their Big Sky Mine south of Colstrip, Mont.
