Respect for our (female) elders

Thanks for the article on the inspirational and tenacious Debbie Sease (HCN, 5/2/11). I work for The Wilderness Society and elders like Debbie, Johanna Wald of the Natural Resources Defense Council and volunteer Marge Sill with the Sierra Club in Reno are the inspiration for me and so many other women in the movement. While we love our male colleagues in the conservation movement, it's great to see a woman like Debbie getting the attention she deserves. There are many more women like her. We owe huge debts of gratitude to both the women and men who have toiled for years to ensure wild places and the critters that live there are preserved in perpetuity.

Hey Sally, I don't know if you remeber me from way back when, but I read your letter in HCN and am so glad to see you are still kickin' -- I loved your letter and am inspired that you are still working for the wild. Hope this finds you well, peace and love, Karen DeBraal
