'A gentle giant'

Letter to the Editor - From the August 28, 2000 issue of High Country News by Kathy Karpan
Dear HCN,

Thanks for the tribute to our late friend Lynn Dickey (HCN, 6/19/00: Dear Friends). She was a gentle giant, for sure. It always amazed me that she was in the world of rough and tumble politics but not of that world. She was always a calming influence. I remember the United Mine Workers strike in 1990 and how hard it was to talk with both sides, but Lynn did it. At our state Democratic convention in Lander on May 20, we adopted a resolution commending her wonderful record of public, government and community service.
