You bashed Wyoming

Dear HCN,

We are disgusted with your article, "Riding the Wyoming Brand" (HCN, 7/6/98). This is liberal Democratic Party propaganda designed to slam the good conservative values we have in Wyoming. I would have thought High Country News would never lower itself to this kind of slander, but I was wrong. Gov. Jim Geringer and the Republican Party in Wyoming try hard to cater to the wishes of the voters.

There are good jobs in Wyoming in the coal mines, in the service industries, and many people have Internet-style business that reaches the whole United States and provides work for many people. The children in the big family ranches do stay here and continue the ranching industry. The young people that leave the state are mostly those who do not want hard-working, sweaty, 10-hour-per-day jobs. These young people prefer lazy seven-hour, daily jobs that give high pay for minimal effort, just like the liberals advocate. We are dismayed that you would bash Wyoming.
